AstroApp calculates Vedic (Jyotish) birth charts and daily readings. This policy explains exactly what the app stores about you, what it does not, and how to get rid of all of it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
| What | Why we need it | How it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To identify your account and let you sign back in | Stored in plain form, because we must be able to match it when you log in |
| Your password | To sign you in | Never stored. Only a one-way scrypt hash is kept, which cannot be turned back into your password |
| Your date, time and place of birth | This is your chart — without it there is no moon sign, no nakshatra, no dasha, no rising sign | Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is written to disk |
| Your messages to the astrologer | To answer them, and to show you the conversation again | Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is written to disk |
Your messages are encrypted where they are stored, but we are able to read them. We hold the key, because our server is what writes the astrologer's reply — it cannot answer a question it cannot read.
Some apps describe this as "end-to-end encrypted". That would not be true here, and we would rather tell you plainly than use a phrase that sounds better than it is. What we can promise is that your messages are never sold, never used for advertising, and never read except to answer you.
Turn on Private mode in the Ask screen and that conversation is answered but never written down — not to our database, not to a log, and not for you to read back later. If you want something left no trace of, that is the switch.
When AI-generated replies are enabled, the text of your message and your calculated chart details (moon sign, nakshatra, dasha, and the day's panchanga) are sent to Anthropic, which operates the Claude model that writes the reply. Your email address, your password and your identity are never sent. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy terms.
Other than that, no third party receives your data. There is no analytics provider, no advertising network, and no data sharing of any kind.
Until you delete it. We do not quietly clear out accounts for being inactive — if you come back in three years, your chart will be where you left it.
Both of these are buttons inside the app, on the Privacy screen. Neither requires emailing anyone or waiting for a reply.
AstroApp is not for anyone under 13, and sign-up refuses a date of birth that would make you younger than that.
All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Birth details and messages are encrypted at rest. Passwords are hashed with scrypt and are not recoverable by anyone, including us.
The charts are calculated from real astronomical data, and we take that part seriously. What the readings mean is another matter: Jyotish describes conditions and timing, not certainties. Nothing in this app is medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and it should never be used in place of a qualified professional.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page.
